Allen, Kenworthy running for re-election

Two Dodge County Commissioners will be running for re-election in November.
There will be two seats up for grabs this year with John Allen running for re-election in District 1 which includes Mantorville Township, Milton Township, City of Kasson North Precinct — North of 16th Street and then South 16th Street NE (625th Street) including 16 Ave NE and City of Mantorville.

After 6 decades a staple in Kenyon closes its doors

On Friday, May 31, Milo Peterson Ford in Kenyon closed its doors.
An employee answered the phone of the business on Monday, and confirmed the business closed.
“Yep, we did,” he said. “We’re just here in sales right now just kind of getting things tidied up, but yes we did close.”
Later in the day, another employee answered the phone who said, “the owner has told me that he doesn’t want any story.”

Mantorville bridge closing June 10

Mantorville’s bridge over the Zumbro River will be closing on June 10 as the construction work on Highway 57 through the city continues.

Kasel looks to bring lessons from the schools in his new role with Kasson PD

Eight years ago Jesse Kasel was in his first year as the D.A.R.E. instructor for the district, teaching classes full of fifth graders who would make up the K-M Class of 2024.
As fate would have it, those fifth graders would cross the graduation stage as he serves in his last full year as the school resource officer for the District.

Reich hopes to take MNPrairie to next level

Tara Reich is no stranger to Minnesota Prairie County Alliance, and now she will have the chance to lead the organization, after being named executive director.
Reich was selected in August to serve as the interim director, and in March, the MNPrairie board voted to remove the interim label, according to a May press release.

I Was Thinking... Commencement

It is that time of the year for caps and gowns and commencement ceremonies. Most families plan gatherings of family and friends to honor the graduation of their child. It is considered a milestone of passage. Those same parents also are amazed on how fast those 13 years flew past. It seemed just a while ago they were sending that same little child to their first day of kindergarten.
