68 Century Farms to be honored in 2026

The Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Farm Bureau recognize 68 Minnesota farms as 2026 Century Farms.

KM Nursery Group to join food program

Kasson-Mantorville Nursery Group has announced its participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meals will be available at no separate charge to enrolled children at 409 Eighth St. NW, in Kasson.
The goal of the CACFP program is to improve the diets of young children and increase the opportunity for children to eat a variety of nutritious foods. Meals meet nutrition standards established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Open communication key as district addresses budget issues

I wanted to provide an update on our school’s financial situation.
As previously communicated, Triton is working with the Minnesota Department of Education to develop a Special Operating Plan. This is required for school districts identified as being in Statutory Operating Debt (SOD), which occurs when a district’s unassigned fund balance falls below -2.5%.
Based on our 2024-25 audit, Triton’s unassigned fund balance was -3.49%.

KM students do well  at state FCCLA leadership event

The Kasson-Mantorville High School FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) chapter earned the Outstanding Chapter Award at the recent annual State Leadership Conference in Bloomington.
In addition, Brynlee Schawanke was recognized as one of five Ultimate Leaders in Minnesota FCCLA.
The 73 local students joined nearly 700 members from across Minnesota at the conference.

Triton schools offer free vision screening

KPD Chief: Register your dogs for your benefit

Kasson Police Chief Josh Hanson addressed concerns about dogs on the loose in the city at a recent council meeting.
“There has been some social media chatter about dogs running loose,” he said. “We’re well aware of it. We issued a lot of citations related to it.
Hanson said they tried to seize some dogs initially, but since 2019 they’ve run into a problem: no vet clinics will take them.
