Matt Brekke wants to be the Mayor of Byron one day. He’s made no secret about it.
But for now, and for the foreseeable future, he’s helping the community in a new way as the Utilities Superintendent for the city.

An Owatonna business owner is taking over as the new city hall chief in West Concord, according to Mayor Jeffrey E. McCool.
“I am pleased to announce that Paula Even Trenda has accepted the position of City Administrator for the City of West Concord,” McCool wrote on his Facebook page. “Ms. Trenda brings over 20 years of management experience to the city.”

It’s all about home town, and family.
That’s what Lexie Faro says about her family’s new business, The Kickback, which occupies the former Smiling Moose location in downtown Kasson. The new restaurant had a soft opening with an active drive-through in May, and they plan to open indoor seating at the end of July.

Hayfield Grocery has now added hardware items to its stock. The store has set aside a portion of the facility and is now carrying a limited supply of hardware items.
The store, formerly Ryan’s, has been under new ownership since last December when it was purchased by Albert Lea businessman Victor Patel.

Egan Company, a specialty contractor and systems integrator with a Rochester presence, announced the construction of a new prefabrication facility in Kasson. The facility is expected to be completed and operational by January 2025.

On a unanimous vote the Kasson Mantorville School Board approved a contract between the District and the K-M Principals Association, during its most recent meeting.
For the current school year, Elementary School Principal Courtney Frie will be paid $122,970, Middle School Principal will be paid $119,701 and High School Principal Trent Langemo will be paid $136,971, all who are paid for 225 workdays per year.
