Kasson residents are invited to stop by the Kasson Police Department Friday and Saturday to help give the building a “Fresh Coat for the Blue.”
Volunteers will be at the building both days to give the structure a new coat of paint. Painting starts at 9 a.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday. To make the painting easier, the city Public Works Department will be on hand with a lift to get to the higher up spots on the building.

Wasioja’s summer event is coming Sunday, July 28, and it has a new name this year.
Now called Fenders and Fibers, the one-day event, sponsored by the Dodge County Historical Society, will feature classic cars along with the vintage tractors we’ve done in the past. There will be beautifully crafted quilts in the Ted Bartel Gardens, with music provided by the Onion Creek Band.

Maria Hernandez-Chaire grew up with an older sister and lived in Kasson during her school years and she is a Kasson-Mantorville graduate. She played some volleyball, was in the choir, and enjoyed watching school sports events with her friends.

Last week I talked about our struggle to relax. After the paper comes out, I read my column to see if there are any errors I missed. When I reread the column, I began to wonder if I’d sent the wrong message. Don’t get me wrong, I still believe most of us don’t take as much time as we should to relax.

Question: I own a 1987 Toyota based RV. The dashboard instrument cluster is pretty minimal. No tachometer, etc. I have found a cluster from another Toyota truck that I’d like to install. My problem is that my RV has about 112,000 miles on the odometer while the “new” odometer shows a bit over 210,000 miles.

Sandy Wiebusch of Kasson estimates she’s given blood about 70 times. And there isn’t anything holding her back from donating again in the future, she said.
Wiebusch is next scheduled to give blood on July 22 at Grace Methodist Church in Kasson.
“I just love helping other people,” she said. “And that’s the main reason I donate.”
When asked if she encourages others to donate blood, she quickly responds, “Absolutely, yes.”
