Advance tickets for carnival rides available

The Dodge County Fair is fast approaching and advance carnival ride tickets are available.
Advance tickets are currently available at several county businesses and will also be available at the Fair Office beginning July 8.

CORRECTION

A story in last week’s Dodge County Independent regarding a former Kasson-Mantorville employee being acquitted of charges filed against him said he was terminated by the school district after the charges were filed. Kian Sean Moran was terminated on May 1. The charges were filed June 7, 2023. The DCI regrets the error.

DNR receives donation for wildlife management area near Byron

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced it received a 420-acre land donation near Byron from The Nature Conservancy and Trust for Public Land. Named Moon Valley Wildlife Management Area, the property is now open to the public, providing a variety of public outdoor recreation opportunities 15 minutes north of downtown Rochester.

Lake Mantorville?

Has a new lake formed in Mantorville? No, it’s just the high water of the Zumbro River at Riverside Park in Mantorville. Several inches of rain fell in the area last week, slowing down construction on Highway 57 through Mantorville and cancelling the Stagecoach Days activities on Saturday.
