I Was Thinking... Summer in the City

All winter Minnesotans dream of warm summer days. Now here it is with 2/3 of our summer season already behind us. So, whenever I have the chance, I want to be outside. It could be sitting on the deck reading, mowing the lawn, or even weeding the garden. However, it is even better if it is on a lake fishing, playing pickleball, or going for a walk or a bike ride.

With the primary and filing deadlines behind us, we now know what the local section of the Dodge County and Byron general election ballots will look like.
Dodge County’s commissioner races see the current office-holders up for election all running unopposed.
At the city council and school board level there are a number of contested races where multiple candidates are seeking to be elected.

Gall new officer at KPD

Ian Gall, a 2021 Kasson-Mantorville graduate, recently graduated from RCTC with honors for law enforcement. Gall’s education included three semesters of classes in a classroom where they go over laws, ethics and more.

Early registration still open for Haunted Hustle

There is still time to take advantage of the early bird pricing and register for the 6th annual Haunted Hustle 5k and one-mile Family Fun Run in Mantorville on October 26.
Haunted Hustle is a fun, friendly, family event sponsored by Dodge Refreshed. It gives an early morning start to activities at the Mantorville Fall Festival.

The Kasson-Mantorville Class of 1994

The Kasson-Mantorville Class of 1994 held a reunion on August 10 at Mike Marti’s business location in Kasson. There were 112 class members and five have passed away.

Then and Now

The 10-day 1965 Minnesota State Fair featured the new 330 ft. Space Tower, the Educational Building, and a huge Dance Pavilion in the teen “fair within the fair.” The grandstand shows had Clarinetist Pete Fountain, Motown singer Mary Wells, the Ray Charles Singers, and country singer Roger Miller. Stock car races were held at the grandstand track with the longest one on Labor Day but have not been held since 2002.
