Mantorville Cub Scouts Hold Pinewood Derby
Mantorville Cub Pack 230 held its fourth annual Pinewood Derby race on Monday, January28 at the Mantorville Opera Hall.

Dodge County residents contributed more than $30,000 during the local Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign this past Christmas season.
A total of $30,902.52 was contributed, said local Salvation Army coordinator Tanya Young. That figure is $3,000 more than was raised during the 2022 holiday season.

Usually, I espouse the idea of relaxing and appreciating the small things in life. I’ve talked about watching clouds, appreciating sunsets, and embracing the simple things. But there also comes a time to realize that you don’t have all the time in the world, and you had better hurry up.

The Great Seal of Minnesota has been modified a few times in Minnesota History by the state legislature in 1858, 1971, and 1983 — but certainly not to the degree that is now proposed by our state legislators. In 2023, our state legislature created the State Emblems Redesign Commission to change both the seal and the flag — changes that will be official on Statehood Day in May of this year.
