In 1977 the Lushinsky’s moved to a farm site along the dump road between Kasson and Mantorville. They learned they could not have a mailbox by their driveway as it would be ½ mile away on the county road where their mail was delivered. They got a PO box at the Mantorville Post Office, and have had the same mailing address ever since even though they have lived in different houses in Mantorville through the years.

As I was crawling into bed one night, I heard the whistle of a train going through town. I realized that while I was about to go to sleep, someone was in charge of getting a huge load of materials to where it needed to go. When many of us were enjoying a good night’s sleep, others were at work.

National FFA Week Observed February 16-23

Sara Bailey, an elementary special education teacher in the Kasson-Mantorville School District, is in the running for the 2024 Minnesota Teacher of the Year.
Education Minnesota recently released its list of candidates for the 60th annual Teacher of the Year program. The list includes 159 teachers from public and private pre-K institutions, as well as early childhood education and adult basic education teachers.

A show full of song and frivolity will be held this weekend to benefit the Mantorville Theatre Company.
Triple Berry Pie, Et cetera! is a Valentine-themed event at the Opera House in Mantorville. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 18.

The North American Farm & Power Show is coming to the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna March 14-16.
The annual show will feature the latest technology the farm industry has to offer. More than 12,000 farmers attend the show to view the area’s largest variety of farm equipment and services, shake hands with dealers and gather valuable information to help make their purchasing decisions for the upcoming season.
