Berge sets K-M record for career wins

Kasson-Mantorville wrestler Brady Berge has enjoyed a successful career that has shown no sign of slowing down. His sky-high trajectory continued on Jan. 28 as his victory over Owatonna’s Journey Peterson was his 222nd of his career, breaking the old record held by Garrett Garness.

Powerlifters prepare for regional meet

The Kasson-Mantorville powerlifting team competed at regional meet at Holmen High School on Saturday as part of a Wisconsin state and regional meet. The meet featured 260 lifters competing from 16 different schools as it was the final stop before the USAPL qualifying meet next weekend at LaCrosse Central (Wis.) High School.

The Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team is beginning to hit its stride toward the end of the regular season schedule and its team success hasn’t waned despite being tested repeatedly throughout the season. 

Creating countless memories and adventures at Wolf Ridge

Another Triton Wolf Ridge trip is in the books, and once again, all involved came home with countless memories and adventures. 
Temperatures were relatively warm (close to 20 degrees!) when 103 freshmen, senior leaders, staff and parents boarded the buses early in the morning on Jan. 15. As the weekend progressed, temperatures dropped, but spirits remained high.  

Bank rejects city offer to buy Greystone subdivision lots

The Dodge Center Council was scheduled to meet earlier this week to discuss options after United Prairie Bank rejected the city’s offer to buy 12 vacant lots in the Greystone Subdivision for $5,000 each.

Holly Burow takes on first tax season as CPA in West Concord

Some say things happen for a reason. Some say its karma.
For Holly Burow, her purchase of Rhodes Tax Service in West Concord is a result of “divine intervention at a meatball supper.” 
Burow purchased the business from Vicki Rhodes last fall and officially took over on Oct. 1. 

Darlene J. (Peggy) Poffenberger, 87, Kasson

Darlene J. (Peggy) Poffenberger, 87, of Kasson passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
Darlene was born Sept.13, 1928 in Fairmont to Virgil and Florence (Simpson) Louks. She grew up in the Hayfield area.  
Darlene worked as a cook for several different establishments in the Kasson-Mantorville area including the Country Club, Drive-In and Haven’s Bakery. 

Betty June Knudson, 84, Dodge Center

Betty June (Larsen) Knudson peacefully passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, surrounded by family.  
Betty was born May 6, 1931 in Redwood Township, Minnesota.  Betty came to teach at the Dodge Center Seventh-day Adventist Church School where she met and married the love of her life, George Knudson. Betty and George were married on Aug. 6, 1951.
