PUBLIC HEARING

The City of Kasson will conduct a public hearing after 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Kasson City Hall for the consideration of the renewal liquor licenses for:  Kasson American Legion Post #333, Daniel’s Restaurant, Events by Saker and Pete’s Repeat.  There will also be a hearing for the consideration of the Sunday liquor license renewals for each of these four establishments.

1. Agenda:  Add Pay Estimate #1 Swenke/Ims for New Library, Add A.2.c.2 Ron Unger Northern Green Expo 1/13-15/16 in Minneapolis; move visitors to administrators report.  Motion to approve the agenda made by Eggler, second by Coleman with all voting Aye.
2. Consent Items were approved – Motion by Borgstrom, second by Eggler with all voting Aye.

Wildcats earn victory against Waseca

This season’s path for the Dodge County boys hockey team has been one that has strived to see improvement throughout the season. While those improvements seem to be spaced out , there have been times where the Wildcats have put everything together.
One of those moments came on Jan. 19 when the Wildcats traveled to Waseca and defeated the Blue Jays 3-2.

Inspired to do even better

I got a shot or jolt of inspiration last week in the Twin Cities.
No, I wasn’t at the doctor’s office, but rather the Minnesota Newspaper Convention, a gathering of editors and publishers from newspapers across the state. This is always an inspiring time for me to find out what the industry trends are and what works and doesn’t work at other publications.

After a tumultuous couple of years at the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, things appear to be a bit calmer these days. 
At least that’s how Sheriff Scott Rose feels as he wrapped up his first year of office focused on restoring trust. And he had his work cut out for him. 

K-M cheerleading wins second straight state title

The Kasson-Mantorville cheerleading team won its second straight competitive cheerleading championship as they placed first in a state competition on Jan. 30.
The state field included six teams in the preliminary round and K-M executed a flawless routine to enter the finals. After making a tweak to their routine, the girls had a strong performance to earn a spot in the grand championship round.
