The last time the Owatonna boys basketball team faced Northfield, the Huskies came out on the wrong end, falling 80-67 in Northfield. Tuesday, the Huskies hosted the Raiders and showed the growth that has been made since that Dec. 13 matchup.
Powered by a quick 12-2 run to start the game, the Huskies (12-3, 10-2 Big Nine) mauled the Raiders 73-57 in Big Nine Conference action at the OHS gymnasium.

The Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team has made dominating the HVL a habit that’s going to be hard to break. Over the past 43 conference games, the KoMets have watched their opponents come and go only to have them come away empty handed as they continue to defend back-to-back conference championships.

The challenges keep coming for the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team as it looks to defend its state championship from a year ago. Although it was to be expected that the KoMets would have a target on their back, the dominant fashion in which they have knocked down everything that has stood in their way may not have been foreseen.

The Kasson-Mantorville Varsity Dance Team took home the HVL Jazz championship during the conference’s dance championships on January 27. 
The title marks the fourth stratight season that KoMettes have taken first in the event and also finished as a runner-up in the Kick competition later in the evening.

That’s what judges of the state newspaper contest said in presenting three journalistic excellence awards to the Dodge County Independent (DCI). For the first time ever, top state honors have made their way to the DCI.

The security at the Dodge County courthouse is going to receive a $19,500 upgrade when a new 3-D bag and jacket scanner arrives in about six weeks.
Entering the courthouse is already a fairly meticulous affair, with sergeant Richard Allee or two other deputies at the ready to go through bags, briefcases and jackets before going through a body scanner. 

I can’t begin to imagine the pain and horror Patty and Jerry Wetterling have experienced over the 28 years. It’s almost incomprehensible. 

On Wednesday, February 15 at 6:30 pm in the City Council Chambers, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Kasson will hold the following Public Hearings:

The Claremont Township Board will receive sealed bids for the following:
3/4” blue-gray rock with fines
3/4” blue-gray rock without fines
3/4” brown rock and some gravel
Material to be hauled with (5) five trucks minimum anywhere in said Township by July 21, 2017. Insurance certificate must accompany bids.
The board reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids.
