To mask, or not to mask

To mask, or not to mask, that is the question being posed by national, state and local health experts. Meanwhile, parents, teachers, essential and non-essential workers are wondering if the heavy boot of government will fall again and place all of us under a mandatory masking and lockdown.

Minnesotan grabs the gold in Olympic debut

Minnesotan Sunisa (Suni) Lee brought home the gold in Olympic individual gymnastics.
Lee, an 18-year-old from St. Paul, had the entire country behind her bid to bring home the gold after Simone Biles withdrew from competition.
Lee grabbed the gold when she turned in a brilliant floor exercise to catapult past Russian Angelina Melnikova. Lee scored a 13.700 in her performance.

July has been a busy month and it’s not over!

Most people have had one of those days when reality crowds out life itself. I’ve had one of those months and July is not over. It started out with the Fourth of July, our nation’s birthday. It was a rather uneventful day for most of us.

Fair draws huge crowds, excitement

Dodge County Free Fair was over the top successful! Cars were lined up on Mantorville Avenue looking to find a space to park. Mini donuts were flying out of the machine and the Dodge County Dairy Association’s shakes and malts were in high demand each day of the fair.

Heat’s on and the corn’s head high

As we embark on the Dodge County Free Fair, holding true to mid-summer heat, the hot humid days of summer are encroaching on our county.
Corn has been surpassing the knee high by the Fourth of July and pushing to head high by the fair.
Without rain, however, the corn and soybean crops will begin to show signs of fatigue.

It’s Dodge County Free Fair Time!

Droves of people will be making their way to the one-year delayed Dodge County Free Fair that begins Wednesday, July 14 at the fairgrounds. After a year off due to the global pandemic, the excitement is building to get out and do what’s normal in southeast Minnesota.
