Southerly winds were whipping up the crowds at Mayo High School’s stadium as Kasson-Mantorville’s KOMETS squared-off against the Byron Bears in a decisive game that would decide the champion of Section 1AAAA.
No, I’m not going to relive the game blow-by- blow, but I’ll try to convey the enthusiasm from the first series of downs until the clinching of the title by the KOMETS.

Wow! Saturday afternoon was a magnificent day in the Kasson-Mantorville area. For those who were able to witness our K-M KoMets crush the Winona Winhawks, it was one of those days the fans and players will remember until at least Friday.

Last Thursday was a bit more extraordinary than most days in Kasson or Dodge County for that matter. As people began migrating back to Kasson via Mantorville Ave., a combine lost its left front wheel. Fortunately, the operator of the unit was able to jump the curb (even with a corn head on the combine) and only partially block the south- bound lane. A trailing tractor and trailer was also forced to pull to the curb.

Kasson-Mantorville Lions Club is a local service club that puts words into action. It's a club that has had impact on Kasson parks, recreation areas and displaying Old Glory on U.S. holidays. At the September meeting of the KM Lions, a prestigious award was presented to two individuals who made donations to the club.
