Shirley L. Knutson, age 93, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.
Shirley Louise Lea was born February 12, 1923, in Newry Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Alvin H. and Pauline (Peterson) Lea. She attended country school District 111 and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1940.  

A possible attempted kidnapping took place this afternoon as a juvenile was approached by a dark green four door car that was occupied by two black males, according to the Kasson Police Department. The driver was described with having gray hair. The juvenile reported that they believed a firearm was pointed at her. The males asked her to get into the car and they would give her a ride home.

With the final phase of Dodge County’s extensive remodeling project nearing its end the Dodge County District Court left its temporary quarters in the Government Services Building last Friday and moved back to the historic Dodge County Courthouse.

The Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team will look to make their third consecutive trip to next week’s state tournament as they defeated Stewartville and Northfield to set up a showdown with top-seeded Winona on Thursday night. This will mark the fifth straight season the KoMets have made it to the section championship game.

The company, which is located at Freerksen Trucking in Dodge Center, has been around for a little over two years and is co-owned by Landon Koss and Mark Freerksen.

For a half hour last Wednesday morning everyone in the school was either reading or being read to as part of a nationwide event. 

With waves of warmth, it looks like our relatively wimpy winter may be moving on out for the season. I love spring, and it is so refreshing to get a string of 60 plus degree days this early in the year.
As a youngster growing up in the central part of the state, I can remember some hellacious snow storms and blizzards, even throughout the month of March. There were times we stopped dead in our tracks and couldn’t move anywhere.
