Property clean-up, move to new City Hall top Claremont agenda

A discussion on how to get Claremont residents to clean-up their properties and the city led to a decision to let the Public Health and Safety Committee head up the effort.
Public Works Committee members Marie Lindblom and Dean Gray brought the subject up with Gray saying they wanted to know “how to get people to help clean up the city.” Some properties, they said, are not in compliance with city ordinances.

Winona stops KoMets short of state

As the days led into the Section 1AAA final between Kasson-Mantorville and Winona, there was a feeling that this was a showdown between two of the top girls basketball teams in the state. Despite the level of competition, only one of the two teams could make it to this week’s state tournament.

Farmers need extra protection

As Americans celebrate National Ag Day on March 15, there is a movement going on in Minnesota to improve farm safety, especially when it comes to tractors.
While agriculture is important to our very existence in many ways, those who are committed to working the land are often in danger. Farming is one of the deadliest workplaces. 

Vernon R. Nelson, 71, Byron
