As the days led into the Section 1AAA final between Kasson-Mantorville and Winona, there was a feeling that this was a showdown between two of the top girls basketball teams in the state. Despite the level of competition, only one of the two teams could make it to this week’s state tournament.

As Americans celebrate National Ag Day on March 15, there is a movement going on in Minnesota to improve farm safety, especially when it comes to tractors.
While agriculture is important to our very existence in many ways, those who are committed to working the land are often in danger. Farming is one of the deadliest workplaces. 

Vernon R. Nelsen, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday March 9, 2016. 
No formal service is planned, but friends and family are invited to share food and fellowship on Saturday March 19, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Byron United Methodist Church fellowship hall at 503 First Avenue NW, Byron.
