Cruz, Sanders on top in Dodge County Caucuses

Big turnouts were reported for both the Democratic and Republican caucuses last week with Sen. Bernie Sanders taking the top spot for the Democrats and Sen. Ted Cruz for the Republicans.
On the Republican side, caucus attendees did not follow statewide trends as Cruz received 145 votes, Donald Trump 133 votes and Sen. Marco Rubio, the statewide GOP victor, received 112 votes. Dr. Ben Carson had the support of 25 caucus goers and Ohio Gov. John Kasich received 16 votes.
Statewide GOP results had Rubio in the top spot followed by Cruz in second and Trump third.
On the DFL side, 316 residents turned out on caucus night.  In this case the local party was in tune with the state results as Sanders had 191 votes and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had 123 votes. Two individuals were uncommitted.
