As winter approaches, Dodge County Hwy Dept. would like to remind citizens of our Snow Plowing Policy. We have adopted this general policy to be followed by the county to the extent possible with the funds available. Although we do not have around the clock plowing, routes will be cleared as quickly as practical with available staffing, keeping safety as our primary concern.

The home-standing WEM girls finished the first half with a 10-0 scoring run, and that proved the difference in a 61-53 conference victory over the Blossoms Friday, Dec. 2.  The score was tied at 24, when the Bucs went on the streak.

The Kasson city council members are anticipating such a large crowd for the public hearing at 6 p.m. Dec. 14th, they’ve moved the meeting to the high school forum room. Those wanting to attend should enter the new main entrance on the building’s East side and go up the stairs. The meeting room will be on the left. 

The Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) fall conference was held in Bloomington, Minn., the weekend of Nov. 12, where about 25 K-M HOSA students participated alongside some 300 students from around the state, taking part in health-related sessions and activities intended to raise awareness and interest in a range of health care professions and practices.

In the game of hockey, there are few things that can create a momentum swing such as a power play or penalty kill. If a team is able to capitalize on a power play, it can energize a team that’s behind or give them an extra bit of confidence to make up a deficit. On the flipside, a penalty kill can also give a team the energy boost needed to win the game.

For the last five plus years, the Midwest Division of the American Cancer Society, Inc. has been number one in the nation per capita for raising money through Relay for Life. In 2016, about 13.9 million people raised about $17.7 million dollars, or $1.27 net per person. 

With the rush of the holiday season closing in on us, I encourage people to consider one important aspect of making the holidays joyful for others less fortunate—giving.
As the year comes to a close, I’m so thankful for what I have in my life. I actually become overwhelmed with thankfulness, especially knowing about all the hardships going on in the world.
