The Owatonna Huskies football program has been on a seven game winning streak that hasn’t just seen the Huskies be crown champions in both the district and the section, but have them one game away from the Class 5A championship game.
A big reason for the Huskies success this season is the abundance of young talent that floods the roster.

As an athlete during recruiting season, it’s fairly normal to be pulled out of class to meet with a respective school’s coaching staff. When you get pulled out of class to go to your father’s room, who’s not only a coach, but a teacher, you start playing through events through your head to make sure that you didn’t do anything wrong. 
That was the situation for NRHEG High School football player Jack Schultz. 

At their meeting Monday evening, the Mantorville city council members unanimously approved the results of the general election Nov 8. 
Chuck Bradford held onto the mayor’s seat with 517 votes over 31 write-in votes.
Elected to four-year terms were Henry Blair with 365 votes and Ryan Christensen with 469 votes. There were 14 write-in votes. 
Christensen will replace Sherry Roth who did not run again in this election.

When Kasson Mayor Steve Johnson made the choice not to run again in early August, the people of Kasson knew that they would have a new mayor in 2017. After the Nov. 8 election, the voters have chosen Chris McKern to be the new mayor. 

The Kasson-Mantorville powerlifting team competed in their first competition meet of the year as they held their annual K-M Warm-Up meet on November 11. This year’s team has 26 lifters as they all set their initial benchmarks during this competition.

The end of a season can be a bittersweet time for most teams. When the smoke clears from weeks of playoff competition, there’s only one team that gets to end their season with a victory while others are left to reflect on something they could have done differently or what progress they had made throughout the season.

For his whole life, Bobby Fellows has been around the dog kennel business. And now he is bringing that business to Dodge County.  

West Concord, a town with a population of about 800 at the 2010 census, had nine people run for four offices in the general election. City Administrator Theresa Booms said, “It was a great turnout for the city of West Concord. Just by the number of candidates that applied just shows great spirit and involvement in the community.”
In the mayoral race, the incumbent Jeff McCool, won with 212 votes over Mary Burt with 184.

In the midst of what had the potential of being pure chaos, there was a spirit of calm and collectedness in Ellendale last Friday. Ellendale may be just a county away, but preparedness is the message that I would love to bring to the forefront here in Dodge County also.
