This family friendly fantasy film follows Newt Scamander, a British wizard with an affinity for studying and collecting magical creatures, as he lands in New York City in 1926 with a magical suitcase full of fantastic beasts.

NEWS ALERT: Snow causes slippery roads - rollover

There was a one car rollover involving a Ford Mustang, off Hwy. 14 near Kasson at about 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16. No injuries were reported. Icy road conditions are a major concern going into the weekend.

Randy L. Poffenberger, age 68, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at his home in Kasson. The memorial service was held December 16, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 301 8th Ave NW in Kasson. 

Velma Jean Pettey

Velma Jean Pettey of Mantorville, Minn., passed away Wed., Dec. 7, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus in Rochester, surrounded by her family.
Pettey came into this world in a snowstorm, Feb. 2, 1936 on the small farm that is now Oxbow Park, outside of Byron, Minn. Her parents were Miles and Frances Brannan.

Marilyn Elaine (Paulson) Fiegel

Marilyn Elaine (Paulson) Fiegel, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at Maple Manor Healthcare and Rehab  in Rochester, Minn., where she resided for the past five years. 

LeAnn K. Coller

The funeral Service for LeAnn K. Coller, 59, of Dodge Center, Minn. will be at 2:00 p.m.  on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Evanger Lutheran Church in rural Sargeant, Minn. with Rev. Dwight Dobell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Coller died on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, following a lengthy illness with Pulmonary hypertension, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Rochester, St.

More wind power for Dodge County?

Yet another wind energy farm could be realized within Dodge County by 2018, provided the project advances beyond its current preliminary planning stages, which were outlined at the Dodge County Commissioners board meeting on Nov. 22.
During the meeting, representatives from Juno Beach, Fla.-based NextEra Energy Resources, LLC., presented their plan for an 89-turbine wind farm likely to be located somewhere south of Highway 14.

Overton named Southeast District Lineman of the Year

In the game of football, many games are won along the battle of the offensive and defensive line. In high school, that battle usually adds the extra element of endurance as many times the players that play offense also play defense and look to make an impact on both sides of the ball. However, in the case of Kasson-Mantorville defensive lineman Grant Overton, he was able to make his mark while playing just one side of the ball.

KoMets roll again at K-M invite

Coming off a dominant performance at the Winona Invitational a week ago, the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team continued to keep its focus heading into their K-M Invite last Saturday afternoon. With plenty of competition coming from Class A power LeSueur-Henderson and other schools, the KoMets’ goal remained the same as they looked to become better than they were the week before.
