When watching a NFL game in today’s era, the game has evolved into one that craves the spotlight. A quick highlight on ESPN shows quarterbacks, running backs and receivers making spectacular plays and scoring touchdowns in the process. Even levels of the defense get some highlights with sacks, interceptions and touchdown returns that make for good television.

The Kasson-Mantorville baseball team saw its season come to  a close sooner than they would have liked, but they had several standouts that helped make it a positive one. For that, Brendan Knoll, Andy Plein, Jack Peterson and Drew Kirmse were all honored as All-HVL selections during the team’s end of year banquet on Sunday night.

The Dodge Center City Council has given City Administrator Lee Mattson approval to make a job offer and begin salary negotiations for a new ambulance director.
Mattson said at Monday night’s meeting he was recommending the city offer the position to Jared Oscarson, currently clinical coordinator of an EMS rescue department in Nevada.
