I Was Thinking... Survival

Early last spring, I started marigold and zinnia seeds in my makeshift greenhouse in the basement. Around March, most Minnesotans are fed up with winter and try to rush spring by growing something green. My basement hothouse did the job and by the time you could put things in the ground, I was ready.

Highway 57 through Mantorville re-opened Monday after being closed since mid-April with through traffic being detoured around the city. The re-opening of the highway will be celebrated on September 4 with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
 
 

Lutterman agrees to three-year deal with Triton

While he won’t be starting until July 1, 2025, the Triton School Board approved a three-year contract with its next superintendent Luke Lutterman, on Aug. 19.
The hiring of Lutterman came a couple months after current Superintendent Craig Schlichting announced his intentions of retiring at the end of the school year.

Hayfield’s Chris Pack named to NSIC Hall of Fame

Hayfield Activities Director Chris Pack is used to winning.
In recent years, Pack cut down nets two straight years, as the head basketball coach for Hayfield High School, winning two straight state championships in 2021 and 2022.
In 2009, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Southern Minnesota State University.
Now add Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Hall of Fame inductee to his list of accomplishments.

Hwy 57 open in Mantorville; Hwy 14 J-turn completed

After months of construction and detours, traffic began traveling on Highway 57 in downtown Mantorville Monday afternoon as the reconstruction work wrapped up. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) also announced that work has been completed on the J-turn at the Highway 14 and County Road 9 intersection.
During the four-month project in Mantorville, construction crews:
reconstructed the road.

Bucket List: The Olympics!

Going to the Olympics has always been something we thought would be an incredible experience, but, to be honest, it wasn’t something that we were actually preparing to do. This changed in May when we saw discounted airline tickets to Paris over the Olympics.
