Bucket List: The Olympics!
Going to the Olympics has always been something we thought would be an incredible experience, but, to be honest, it wasn’t something that we were actually preparing to do. This changed in May when we saw discounted airline tickets to Paris over the Olympics.
Then, lots of questions surfaced. Could we still find hotel rooms? Is it possible to get tickets to events? How hard would transportation be? After a week of research, we realized this amazing trip could become a reality!
We departed July 28 and returned August 8, spending the better part of four of those days in Paris at different Olympic venues.
The remainder of the trip was spent exploring France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. While at the Olympics we had the thrill of attending boxing, tennis, and beach volleyball. By pure chance, Americans were competing in all of the events we had tickets for. Everything we had hoped the Olympic experience would feel like existed. The energy of the crowds, the national pride of each country from around the world, and excitement of the competitions will be something we won’t soon forget.
Paris did an exceptional job of having volunteers and police officers at every corner to answer questions and provide security. The city felt safe, clean, and very navigable. Beach volleyball under the Eiffel Tower was our most memorable event largely due to the location of the venue. It was spectacular! If anyone has ever dreamed of going to the Olympics, we’d say absolutely do it! The 2028 Olympics are in Los Angeles!
