Byron’s Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2023 named

This year’s Hall of Fame class for Byron High School will be different than any previous class. All members inducted this year will be women. This is in celebration of 50 years of girl’s athletics which began in Byron in 1973. Three former athletes, two of the first female coaches, an athletic booster and a girl’s track team will all be recognized.

Kids ‘Soak the Flagman’ at Chateau Speedway Friday

With temperatures headed back to the 90’s for the Labor Day Weekend Chateau Speedway used one more day of temperatures in the 80’s for racing action Friday night in Lansing. One of the new traditions at the track the past few years has been a “Soak the Flagman” night where the kids are all given water balloons and get to take their best shot at hitting the flagman.

Smooth sailing in Chateau’s second full night

With a week of scorching heat in the 90s and 100s behind them, Chateau Speedway race fans and drivers enjoyed temperatures back into the lower 80s at race time and sitting in the 70s for much of the night as they took in the action.

Chateau fans finally get night of racing

Chateau Speedway fans and drivers have been patiently waiting to get some racing in at the track that’s been thrilling fans since 1956. Last Friday night that patience finally paid off. With clear skies and no chance of rain in the forecast, fans and drivers filled up the grounds at Lansing for a much-needed night of racing.

The 2023 racing season began last Friday at Chateau Speedway in Lansing, albeit three and a half months late due to an ownership dispute.

Triton track, field star continues to shine in college

Nell Graham doesn’t like to brag.
In fact, getting her accomplishments out of her is tricky. But Graham was a stand-out athlete at Triton High School during her years there, and is now achieving big things at college.
A Dodge Center native, Graham graduated from Triton High School in 2019. She participated in track and field there and is now doing so at North Dakota State University.
