KoMet bucket boys stop Wingers

RED WING — The Kasson-Mantorville boys basketball team bested the Red Wing Wingers, 78-67, on Thursday, February 29, at Red Wing High School. Posting a 40-33 lead at the hiatus, K-M cruised to the ultimate victory. Kasson-Mantorville was led by Ethan Lee and Kyle Nelson, with 22 points each. Red Wing Scoring: Reid Hartmann, 20 points; Juju Koehler, 18 points; Jason Diaz, 16 points; Christian Koehler, 7 points; Cal Nelson, 4 points.

Kasson-Mantorville grapplers have successful state tournament

ST. PAUL — To say the least, it was a very successful endeavor for the Kasson wrestlers on Saturday, March 2, in the Class 2A individual state championship matches, at the Xcel Energy Center. A day earlier, the KoMets took the runner-up spot in the team tournament.

Senior Night at K-M

Tammy’s farewell

It has been an honor covering Kasson-Mantorville sports since 2011. Randy Carlson roped me into this role for the Dodge County Independent newspaper, where I provided pictures of football, wrestling, volleyball, GBB, and softball. I have shot 16 state tournaments from the sidelines and mat side. When Covid hit, I started writing the articles for the fans at home to read.

Westfield’s Bo Zweiner earns spot at state

The Westfield Razorbacks competed in the 2024 MSHSL Section 2A Individual tournament on Saturday, February 24, at Blue Earth Area High School. Westfield had nine place winners. Bo Zwiener will be moving on to the impending state tournament, next weekend.

Byron gymnastics team heading to State!

ROCHESTER — On Saturday, February 17, and in dramatic fashion, the scrappy Byron girls gymnastics team earned its spot in the Section 1, Class 1A state tournament. For the team, it came down to the last event, with Byron edging out Winona by just over three-tenths of a point. The Lady Bears finished with a team total of 138.975, just ahead of the Winhawks’ score of 138.6, at Rochester John Marshall High School.

Triton grapplers stay busy on the mats

It was a couple of busy days for the Triton wrestlers. On Thursday, February 8, the boys competed at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton High School, for WEM/JWP’s Varsity Senior Night. Friday saw the Cobras in action at the Dover-Eyota Triangular.
