Lady Wildcats win back-to-back games

KASSON — With just a handful of games remaining on the regular season schedule, the Dodge County hockey girls are perched at an impressive 17-3-0 mark overall. That’s because of two more recent victories by the Wildcats. On Friday, January 26, the girls shut-down Waconia, 5-1, and on Saturday, DC topped Moose Lake, 3-0.

DC boys’ hockey shuts out Scarlets

KASSON — Collecting their fifth straight victory, the Dodge County boys hockey team is flying high, moving its overall record to 14-6-0. Most recently, on Tuesday, January 23, the Wildcats topped Mankato West, 3-0, at Dodge County Ice Arena.

Byron gymnasts win final home meet

The Byron girls gymnastics team finished their final home meet of the season on Tuesday, January 23, with a win and their best score of the season. The girls outscored Austin and LaCrescent. Byron finished with a score of 139.525 to Austin’s score of 132.35 and LaCrescent’s score of 117.775.

Girls basketball action continues in area schools

Lady basketball Bears fall to Jaguars
JORDAN — On Monday, January 22, the Byron girls basketball team traveled to Jordan and took on the Jaguars. It was a good battle between a pair of good teams, but the Jags edged the Lady Bears by a 69-65 final tally. The 13-3 Byron girls next meet up with Rochester Lourdes on Monday, January 29, at Lourdes High School, 7:15 p.m.

BYRON — The Byron grapplers held a triangular meet on Friday, January 19. Squads from Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Rochester Mayo and Byron, competed.
(Plainview-Elgin-Millville 54, Byron 19) 107 — Cooper Mack (PEM) pinned Nick Guziak 2:47. 114 — Nash Graner (PEM) pinned Gavin Connelly 4:51. 121 — Carson Rahman (PEM) pinned Gavin Zabel 1:19. 127 — Paxton Xiong (B) dec. Tucker Binner 11-6.

KoMets to host Military, First Responder Night

The Kasson-Mantorville KoMets finished up a busy week, hosting two triangulars at the Home Federal Arena.
On Thursday night, the KoMets outscored their opponents (Pine Island & PEM) 126-11.
Friday presented more of a challenge. Two top ranked Class AAA teams provided the wrestling fans with several marquee match-ups.

DC Lady Wildcats fall to Spartans

LONG LAKE — After a couple of weather-assisted cancellations, the Dodge County girls hockey team was back at it. On Saturday, January 20, the Wildcats lost a tough game in overtime, 5-4, at Orono Ice Arena.
