Since the 1990’s there have been volunteer groups coming each year, originally from North Dakota, and now southwest Minnesota, to repair homes in the city of Greenville, Miss. Greenville is located in northwest Mississippi with a population of 25,000.
A group of about 20 Lutheran and Methodist churches have raised funds and provided the volunteer work crew members to do the projects,  

The city of Kasson has started selling pool passes for summer 2021.
Ron Unger, Parks and Recreation Supervisor, said the city is considering two plans for opening the Kasson Aquatic Center. Both plans are outlined on the city’s website.
 “We’re hoping everybody will be vaccinated by the end of May and we can open up fully,” Unger said of the city pool. “It will just depend.”

If all goes according to plan, Byron Public Schools could have a new superintendent hired by May 3.
School board members met Monday night with Barbara Dorn of the Minnesota School Board Association’s search unit to work out a schedule for the search. The board is seeking a replacement for Dr. Joey Page who will become superintendent of the Austin Public Schools in July.

After years of discussion, planning, funding issues and delays, the construction of a new four-lane roadway from Owatonna to Rochester is finally nearing its final stages.

For most Minnesotans winter is no big deal. Snowmobilers love the winter, ice fishermen and women, ice skaters; kids sliding on area hills spend time outside and don’t stare at iPad screens.

Maria Ortega, 71, of Dodge Center, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mary Kay Agerter, age 84, of Escanaba, formerly of West Concord, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Christian Park Healthcare Center in Escanaba, with her husband Ronald by her side. 
Mary Kay was born Dec. 8, 1936, in Rochester, the daughter of Vincent and Zettie (Nelson) Pirkl. Mary Kay grew up in West Concord and was a graduate of West Concord High School.
