A memorable Senior Night for Byron gymnasts
Byron’s Gymnastics Team celebrated it seniors on Tuesday, March 2, with a win over Kasson-Mantorville/Triton. The girls put together their best meet of the season so far with a score of 137.625. KM/T finished with a score of 113.775.
Even with it being the team’s best score on the season, we have still haven’t come close to reaching our peak. Which makes the long hike of the season so much fun.
In the all-around Amber Roble finished first with a score of 35.375 and Lydia Evans finished second with a new personal best all-around score of 35.05.
On vault, the girls are starting to find their landings and the scores are coming up. Amber Roble had her best score of the season finishing first with a 9.0. Olivia Yennie also finished with a season best of 8.9 and finished second.
Lydia Evans took third with an 8.725 and is getting closer to standing up her new big vault. Sophia Mullenbauch finished fifth and Taylor Dean was sixth with scores of 8.35 and 8.325.
On bars, Lydia Evans lead the team with an 8.275 to finish first and teammates Amber Roble and Ashanti Rice were close behind in second and third. Amber finished with a score of 8.25 and Ashanti with a score of 8.2.
Emma Johnson and Taylor Dean helped make it a clean sweep of the top five spots finishing fourth and fifth. Emma scored a 7.6 and Taylor a 7.375.
Lydia Evans led the way for the team on beam as well, finishing with a score of 8.95 and taking the top spot. Amber Roble finished second with an 8.7 and Olivia Yennie was close behind in third with a score of 8.65. Leah Yokiel took the four spot with her score of 7.95 and Ella Ott finished sixth with a score of 7.0.
On floor, the girls made it a clean sweep of the top five places with Amber Roble leading the way with a season best score of 9.425. Lydia Evans took second with her personal best score of 9.1 and Leah Yokiel finished third with her new best of 9.0 for the season.
Emma Johnson and Olivia Yennie rounded out the squad with Emma finishing fourth with an 8.55 and Olivia fifth with an 8.5.
The win was icing on the cake, the important thing about tonight was letting our seniors know how much their hard work and dedication to the team over the past six season has meant to the team and coaches.

The JV squad set a new season high finishing with 129.7 points. Top three finishes went to the following:

Vault: Ashanti Rice – 1st (8.6) / Avery Basile, Emma Johnson, Savannah Byron – 2nd (8.4)
Bars: Ella Ott & Leah Yokiel – 1st (8.1) / Olivia Yennie – 3rd (7.55)
Beam: Emma Johnson – 1st (8.25) / Taylor Dean – 2nd (7.7) / Brooke Kovash – 3rd (7.1)
Floor: Taylor Dean – 1st (8.9) / Ella Ott – 2nd (8.8) / Avery Basile – 3rd (8.6)
