Kasson City Council welcomes new member

Kasson native Ryan Christensen is joining the Kasson City Council, having been designated for appointment on May 26. He was scheduled to be sworn in Wedesday night.
Christensen graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 2001. For eight years he and his wife Angela lived nearby in Mantorville, and he served on the city council there for two of those eight years.

Michael Rae ‘Mikey’ Helmbrecht, Gunnison, Colorado

Michael Rae “Mikey” Helmbrecht, otherwise known as Opie to those who knew him when his hair was still red, passed away due to cardiac arrest in his home in Gunnison, Colo. On May 16, 2021.

Blaine Ezra Delzer, 57, Mantorville

Blaine Ezra Delzer, 57, of Mantorville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Saint Mary’s Campus in Rochester.
Blaine was born on Sept. 8, 1963, in Rochester, to David and Marlys (Langworthy) Delzer. In 1982 he graduated from Dodge Center High School and then received a degree from UW River Falls in agricultural science. He worked in many different positions in agriculture. 

A busy May has come to an end

Graduation is over, the Twins are clawing their way out of last place and we’ve had enough rain to stave off a draught at least until mid-summer.
May was, and usually is, an extremely busy month. Yes, there are graduation ceremonies (as opposed to the 2020 awkward commencement) and some had the traditional graduation parties.

Golf courses swing into season with gusto

While it was bad in almost every way, the pandemic has been good for the game of golf. Area golf course managers report increases in play and a robust season for 2021.

Beauty of nature everywhere in Colorado

If there is one state I feel God spent more time fashioning together it’s my birthplace, Colorado.  I lived there for three years in the mountains about 70 miles west of Denver. During that time and a few subsequent summers later, I have been able to do some roaming around and will write about some of my travel recommendations.
