July 4th will have a new meaning this year for Michael “Wa” Phy and his family. Phy, a native of Cambodia, become a naturalized American citizen during a ceremony in May. Phy and his wife, Michelle Douk, are the owners of the County Seat Coffeehouse in Mantorville.
Just over a year ago the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul erupted into fiery chaos as a Minneapolis police killed George Floyd, a black man, after he (Floyd) had attempted to pass a fake $20 bill.
Portions of the Twin Cities were set ablaze.
The chaos spread to other cities throughout the United States. For one year our nation’s cities were gripped by violence.

Minnesota State High School League track and field championships were held Friday, June 19, at St. Michael-Albertville’s Knight’s Stadium. A near capacity crowd battled the 90-degree heat to watch the top track and field events of the year.
Tournament action began Friday morning with the boy’s long jump.

Hayfield Viking's baseball team was at Target Field last Friday, June18, playing against #2 seed New York Mills for the Class 1A State Championship.
They got there by beating Adrian-Ellsworth 16-1 in five innings in the quarterfinal game and then they beat Springfield 16-0 also in five innings in the semifinal game.
New York Mills went 15 innings against Randolph in the semi-final game on Wednesday.
What began as a hobby became a business for three generations of Kasson men.
Gordy Lubahn, son Kevin and grandson Kegan operate L&L Street Rods and Sport Trucks out of their 7,000-square-foot shop on County 34 in Kasson. It’s a family-owned business that prides itself on building quality vehicles from the frame up.
It was a long time coming but the Zumbro Education District (ZED) officially broke ground for its new building on Highway 57 in Kasson last week. The new building will be next to to the Catholic Church with the parking lot adjacent to Kasson-Mantorville High School.
