Seldom does anyone say their favorite color is gray. Red, blue, green, purple, yellow and even black may be selected but not gray. Of course, gray isn’t even a primary color, it is a mixture of black and white. There is even a controversy on how to spell it. Gray is considered neutral but can also be controversial.

Suffer the children to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of Heaven (Matt 19:14). With these words, Christ forever changed who had access to the divine.
Until these words, access to the God and the holy things of faith was thought to be the purview of mature adults. Children were taught about the faith but did not have access to God in the same way as the adults.

South Zumbro Lutheran Church Jr. League members packed shoe boxes for Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child program after the Sunday morning service on Nov. 10. Members of Grace Methodist Church in Kasson have also packed 60 boxes for Operation Christmas Child. The National Collection Week for the boxes is Nov. 18-25. In Dodge County the collection site is at Bible Lutheran Church, 11 1st Ave. SE in Dodge Center.

Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) recently approved 17 grants totaling $300,000 to support rural improvements and child care needs in small towns of 10,000 or less in SMIF’s 20-county region. The Taylor Grants are supported by a generous donation from Glen A. Taylor through the Taylor Family Farms Foundation.

Annamarie (Ana) Curry-Usui and members of the Kasson Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon at the Wholistic Workshop. Curry-Usui is the founder of the facility and a reiki master. The workshop is located at 504 Mantorville Ave. S. Suite 6.
 
 

Members of the Mantorville Restoration Association are inviting area residents to “an evening of merriment” at the annual Merry Hour. The event will be at the Hubbell House in Mantorville on Thursday, Nov. 21, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
A complimentary cocktail will be served to ticket holders and there will be numerous live and silent auction auctions to view. Background music will set the holiday mood.

This week’s article will feature our high school leadership group. The KoMet Pride Department is a leadership group that we developed about five years ago. Broc Threinen and Jessica Schoenfelder help lead and organize this group. Our goal is to eventually have this be a student-led leadership group at Kasson-Mantorville, dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.

The Byron boys soccer team will have a new head coach next year, after Dave Bahr resigned from his post, Bahr confirmed in an email to the DCI.
“I have decided to step down as the Byron Head Coach effective last Wednesday,” Bahr wrote in an email.
Bahr finished his seventh year this year, as the head coach with Byron, and has been coaching for 27 years in total at the high school level.
