Benita Lora Esther Yentsch, age 95 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Friday morning, Nov. 11, 2016, at Medford Senior Care in Medford, Minnesota. She was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Aurora Township, Steele County, Minnesota, the daughter of Herbert and Amanda (Kieselbach) Kruckeberg.  She attended school at District 27 and St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School in Havana Township. She was united in marriage to Wayne Howard Yentsch Jan.

Wintery road conditions are believed to have contributed to a single car rollover Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. on Hwy. 34, just outside of Kasson. Three passengers, including the driver, were transported via ambulance for what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

By now, you’ve likely heard the phrase, “Toward Zero Deaths.” It has been a part of the fabric of Minnesota law enforcement and others for nearly 15 years and one that has been used routinely in this newspaper for at least the past year. 

During the course of the winter sports season, it may be a common occurrence to see the Kasson-Mantorville dance team come out during halftime of a basketball game or other sporting event. While many come to see the dancers kick their way through a routine, it can be assumed that their routine is the pinnacle of their participation in the sport.

At a special budget workshop Monday evening, Mantorville city council members combed through the proposed 2017 general fund budget and, with the recommendations of City Clerk/Treasurer Cami Reber, whittled the preliminary budget increase in half.
Instead of a seven percent increase over last year’s levy, they’re now looking at a three percent increase.
The group looked at a few necessary upgrades.
