Kristy Faber, long-time Triton Community Education Director, is Dodge Center’s Citizen of the Year. The award was presented by the Dodge Center Chamber of Commerce and announced at the February meeting of the group.
“It’s very sweet, it’s very nice,” Faber said of the award.

Byron residents got a first look at the budget reductions facing the district as school administrators presented their recommendations to the school board Tuesday night. School administrators were directed to look at ways to cut $1.6 million from the 2025-2026 budget to correct a budget shortfall. Earlier district officials cut a similar amount from the current year’s budget.

State Rep. Duane Quam, R-Byron, showed up to the Capitol on January 14, was sworn in, and when called on, voted for Lisa Demuth, a Republican from the Iron Range, to be the next Speaker of the House.
There were no DFL lawmakers in attendance, who were boycotting the session, until a power sharing agreement could be reached between both parties.

If you see somebody walking around aimlessly this weekend, you may know someone who is suffering from a severe case of SFW. It is a common problem that happens the week after Super Bowl. SFW is Seasonal Football Withdrawal. It is a very serious problem for mostly men who now have no more football games to watch.

This may be the coldest week of the winter in southeast Minnesota with many schools having two days off because of Presidents Day and excessive cold, but that is not stopping local school districts from having a very active week.
For starters, FFA Chapters in all four of the schools covered by the Dodge County FFA are celebrating National FFA Week. FFA Week is really a national event.

The total amount of funding designated for public education during the last legislative session was regarded as historic. It may have been historic based on the amount, BUT it was not allocated to school districts to use for their own specific needs.
