The following case was heard in Dodge County District Court the week of Feb. 16 with Judge Debra A. Groehler presiding:
Jason P. Sudbeck, 54, Lino Lakes, previously appeared and was convicted of felony possession of narcotics. He was sentenced to $130 and 60 months in St. Cloud State Prison.

Class for caregivers planned at Prairie Meadows

Elder Network and Prairie Meadows in Kasson are partnering on a class for caregivers held at Prairie Meadows on Tuesdays, 6 — 7:30 p.m., March 11 — April 15. The class will help caregivers make tough caregiving decisions, communicate more effectively, reduce stress, and other tools in caring for older friends and relatives. The cost is $60, and registration is required by March 4. For more information call 507-285-5272.

Plenty of excitement from state tourney

Over the course of my career I’ve covered a number of significant events, mostly news stories.
I’ve covered the President being sworn in, have covered people being sentenced, broken news about murders taking place in town, to name a few things.
But last week, I had the opportunity to do something I never thought I would; I covered the Dodge County Wildcats as the team won its first ever state championship.

Wildcats season ends with shut out

The Dodge County boys hockey season has come to an end after being shut out by Alber Lea in the first round of the playoffs 6-0.
Behind the net goalie Wes Wagner stopped 26 out of 32 shots for the Wildcats.
 

Wildcats named to All Tournament Team

Five Dodge County Wildcats were named to the 2025 Class 1A girls hockey state tournament All State Team. It included; Alexa Van Straaten, Kylie Meyer, Nora Carstensen, Zoe Heimer, and Ida Huber.
 
 

Byron wins HVL Conference Championship

The Byron boys basketball team clinched the HVL Conference Championship title last week after defeating Pine Island.
 
 

Triton falls to Cotter in playoffs

The Triton girls basketball team was eliminated from the playoffs after losing in the quarter finals to Cotter 62-56.
For Triton Norah Freiderich had eight points, Rainey Dobbs had 14 points, and Reagan Essig had 15 points.
 

Triton boys wrestling season ends at section meet

The Triton boys wrestling team’s season came to an end last week, after competing in the Section 1A tournament.
In the 107 pound weight class Kaiden Adreonfinished in eighth place.
Leighton Cochran placed sixth in the 114 pound weight class, Theo Kispert finished fourth in the 121 pound weight class, and Jaxon Jensen finished sixth in the 127 pound weight class.

Donna Mae Dohrmann, 84, Kasson

Donna Mae Dohrmann, 84, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, after a yearlong battle of brain cancer. She was born April 18, 1940, in Dodge County to Wilton (Bud) and Doris (Erickson) Vrieze. She attended West Concord High School and after graduation she went to beauty school in Austin. On July 2, 1960 Donna married Robert Edward Dohrmann at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
