Kasson-Mantorville School Board member Amy Olson, has resigned for a second time, Board Chair Mark Torkelson confirmed in an email Tuesday morning.
“Out of respect for Ms. Olson we thought it would be appropriate to give her an opportunity to provide a statement first,” Torkelson wrote. “Given that it appears she has not done that yet I can confirm that she has resigned her position as a KM School Board member.

A busy several months are coming up for the Byron School Board as it searches for a new superintendent while continuing work on devising a budget reduction plan for the district. Plans are also for a new levy referendum in November.
Superintendent Search
On Monday, the Minnesota School Board Association (MSBA), which is assisting the district in the search, posted the superintendent job description.

The city of Claremont finally has a mayor, months after the November election.
In November, voters elected write-in candidate Casey Striver, who defeated incumbent Tasha Dahl.
However, things became complicated, when it was determined that Striver didn’t meet residency requirements, according to the city attorney.

The Mantorville City Council held a public hearing on Jan. 27, to discuss Minnesota’s new cannabis regulations. Amy Evans, the Public Health Director for Dodge County, was there to share updated information and answer questions.

Faculty and staff at Kasson-Mantorville High School had a chance to check out the food innovations of students as they enjoyed a lunch prepared by the Food Innovation Class.

Triton High School’s one-act play made it all the way to sectionals on Feb. 1, but didn’t advance to state.
“We did not place in the top three,” said director Karen Kleinwort. “But it’s the first time Triton has advanced in five years so it was exciting to advance to get to sectionals.”
