It was with enormous pride that I watched my son graduate this past weekend from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with family and friends cheering him on.

As seniors get ready to graduate from high school in the next few weeks, they’ll undoubtedly be asked the tough question often of “what do you want to do with the rest of your life?”
I remember when I was 18 and getting ready to head off to college, people would always ask me that question, and quite frankly it was very overwhelming.

The Byron girls track and field team has established itself as a power over the years and as it headed into a week that had the Section 1AA True Team meet and the Hiawatha Valley League Championships, this is the time of the year where the Bears save their best for last.

The weather has not been real good to area farmers this spring but local growers are getting their crops in the ground.

A donation from the Dodge Center Lions Club is helping students in the General Educational Development (GED) program through Triton Community Education pay for the testing required to get their diploma.

One year ago, several schools in the state of Minnesota started a movement to have boys volleyball sanctioned as a sport in the Minnesota State High School League. As with many sports in their infancy, last year served as a test run for the 23 schools that took part in it and as the season went along, the game started to grow within the teams that were taking the court last spring.

In 1978, Joe Pearson was asked by a friend if he wanted to start and own an appliance shop with him.
Pearson said yes and 41 years later he is continuing to help the Kasson community with its appliance needs through his business P&P Appliances.

Last week U.S News and World Report came out with its list of top schools in the nation.
Included on that list is Byron High School.
Principal Steve Willman said that having the school recognized in that way is a true honor.
