Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose didn’t always plan a career in law enforcement. In fact, he started out as a radio announcer.
Rose is a 1987 Kasson-Mantorville graduate and although a back issue limited any involvement with sports, he did play the bass guitar for a couple different bands across southeast Minnesota and Iowa.

A Mantorville native has won a video contest that brings awareness to distracted driving. Hannah Brumfield, 19, entered the contest in March as a senior at Kasson-Mantorville High School, and found out earlier this month that she had won.
“I’m really proud of the message,” Brumfield said of her 30-second video. “Having it win was a really big deal.”

Jean Charlotte Weinknecht, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 at Susie’s Place in Hayfield.
Jean was born on June 27, 1929 in Bureau County, IL to Vernon and Jeannette (McEathron) Johnston. As a child Jean primarily lived in and Wasioja and Kasson.

Keri Lynn Wahlund, 41, of Kasson died Monday, Oct. 5, 2020 at her home, unexpectantly. Keri was born Aug. 8, 1979 in Winona to Ken and Karin (Andring) Peterson. She graduated from Lewiston-Altura High School in 1997, where she was active in golf, cheered for wrestling and was proud of being the first girl to play football for the Lewiston junior high team.

Byron and Lourdes battled to a 1-1 draw to close out the regular season in boys futball last Thursday night.
Byron entered the game missing four players including three key starters due to injury and precaution. The Byron back four had only one regular starter on it and two new faces playing extended time for the first time on varsity.

KM Girls Soccer played on their home turf this game night in honor of Aidan Hegge, a classmate and a friend who left us too early. The girls played for suicide awareness. September was National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, a time to share stories and shed light on this topic.
