Jean Charlotte Weinknecht, 91, Hayfield

Jean Charlotte Weinknecht, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020 at Susie’s Place in Hayfield.
Jean was born on June 27, 1929 in Bureau County, IL to Vernon and Jeannette (McEathron) Johnston. As a child Jean primarily lived in and Wasioja and Kasson.
She graduated from Kasson High School in 1947. On March 12, 1949, she married Billie G.Weinknecht in Nashua, IA.They settled in Kasson, where Jean was a long-time employee at the “dime store” on Main Street. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kasson where she sang in thechoir. She enjoyed bowling, was an accomplished seamstress, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 70 years.She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Mize, Clearlake, CA; grandson Christopher (Lorie) Mize; great-grandson, Kylan Mize; and sister, Donna Dutton.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Dwaine, Robert, Rhonald and Vernon (John); and her sisters Marjorie Johnston, Marcella Olive and Phyllis Bradford.A private graveside service was held at Evergreen Cemetery, Mantorville, with Dibble Funeral Home, Kasson, handling the arrangements.
