Roger A. “Moose” Johnson, age 84 of Faribault, passed away at his home on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 at his home.Services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Faribault on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Sandgren officiating. Interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault at a later date.Visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Wednesday, Jan. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Lerald “Larry” Elbert Farrow, 91, of Blooming Prairie, died peacefully on Christmas Eve, 2019, at New Richland Care Center.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. Burial followed in the Danish Baptist Cemetery in Blooming Prairie.

Kenneth Eugene Anderson, age 82, of Blooming Prairie, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020 at Thorne Crest Nursing Home in Albert Lea.
Kenneth was born to Julius and Florence Anderson on May 25, 1937, on the Anderson family farm in rural Lansing. While growing up, Kenneth attended the District 30 Joint Taylor country school near Corning. After Kenneth’s schooling, he served his country in the Army Airborne from 1955 to 1959.  

Sad days were recorded as 2019 fades into our collective memories.
No, I’m not referring to the latest Vikings loss, nor am I referring to the poorest college officiating that stole a win from Ohio State over undefeated Clemson.
I am referring to the hatred that seems to be targeting Jews and Christians around the world.

Mary A. Wilcox, 76, passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, 2019 at her home. 
She was born May 2, 1943 in Riceville, Iowa to Theodore and Pauline Runde and graduated Leroy-Ostrander High School in 1961. Mary worked briefly as a nursing assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, followed by work at IBM-Rochester, where she met her husband of 56 years, Thomas (Tom) K. Wilcox. In 1966, they settled on a farm north of Mantorville.

Sharon "Shari" Ruth Radke, 75, of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary's Hospital on Dec. 22, 2019.

Funeral Services for Gary “Gar” Petersen, age 75, of Albert Lea, were held at his beloved St. Theodore’s Church on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. Gar passed away peacefully on Dec. 30 at St. John’s Retirement Community. His positive spirit remained strong until his final days. 

After losing 40-65 to Blooming Prairie, the Hayfield boys’ basketball team seemed to take their anger out on Bethlehem Academy as they won 85-56 on Friday, Dec. 27.
            Based on the score, it looks like the Vikings dominated the game, but Head Coach Chris Pack wasn’t happy with how his team played in the first half.

After losing three of their first four games, the Byron girls’ basketball team had won three of their last four entering the Lewiston Auto Holiday Classic and they made it four wins in their last five by beating Winona Senior High 74-50 on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Head Coach Jeremy Baumbach said his offense started to click once they were able to get a few shots to fall.
