Care & Share’s November fundraiser raised just over $50,000.
“This year we raised just over $50,000 including cash donations and auction items. It was a wonderful turnout at the new venue. We served a lot of meals, guessing about 200, and had over 100 auction item donations, said Care & Share’s Jenny Carrier.

The title of today’s column tells you a lot about my age. That phrase isn’t used by almost anyone beyond the baby boomer generation. It usually refers to a one-sided conversation where one person does most of the talking and the other person is forced to endure what becomes a long monolog. The phrase is also outdated since few people today understand the art or purpose of a conversation.

Even though the holiday season for many doesn’t officially begin until Thanksgiving, already Dodge County residents are showing just how generous they can be during this time of year.
Kasson-Mantorville residents turned out on November 7 to help the Care & Share organization raise funds to help those who could use a little help during the holidays and throughout the year.

Police officers are always on the lookout for intoxicated drivers, especially around certain holiday periods like Labor Day back in September and now the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Byron High School’s Class of 1953 celebrated their 71st year of “freedom” with lunch and reminiscing at Sorellina’s restaurant in Rochester on November 8. With only 15 members in their graduating class, they felt fortunate to still have six remaining. Dennis Sette could not join the group but spends his summers in Oregon and winters in Ariz.

Hayfield’s American Legion Auxiliary is observing American Education week November 18–22. Since 1921, the American Legion Auxiliary has promoted the idea of visiting our schools.

Season’s Greetings!

Members of the South Zumbro Lutheran Church confirmation class took their turn ringing bells at HyVee for the Salvation Army on Nov. 16. All the proceeds collected from the kettles at HyVee and Hardware Hank in Kasson and Sunshine Foods in Dodge Center and the counter kettles at local businesses will stay in Dodge County to be used for the needs and services for Dodge County residents. Bell ringing will continue until close to Christmas.
