Care & Share total tops $50,000

Care & Share’s November fundraiser raised just over $50,000.
“This year we raised just over $50,000 including cash donations and auction items. It was a wonderful turnout at the new venue. We served a lot of meals, guessing about 200, and had over 100 auction item donations, said Care & Share’s Jenny Carrier.
The funds raised support Care & Share’s activities throughout the year. Last year alone, Carrier said, the group was able to make a difference for more than 52 families and 134 children during the holiday season and for 43 people in hardship throughout the year. Beyond individual support the board also provides funding to community program that uplift and serve others, she said. Those projects included:
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church’s “A Place at the Table” Wednesday dinners.
SEMCAC Food Shelf
SEMCAC Hardship
Christmas Gift Distribution and HyVee food cards.
Ready Set Learn backpack /school supply program
Faith in Action
Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program for children in the Kasson-Mantorville communities.
Care & Share Giving Trees are also currently located at Hardware Hank in Kasson and County Seat Coffee House in Mantorville. Individuals and families are invited to pick up a tag from one of the trees to provide gifts for a child in the community this holiday season. Return the unwrapped purchases with gift tag to either of the Giving Tree locations by Tuesday, Dec. 10.
