Blooming Prairie Coach Matt Kittelson and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Coach Drew Paukert may have sections on their mind, but the two took a moment to look back on their first regular seasons as head coaches.
While neither team finished with a winning record, both coaches feel they have taken positive steps forward toward a successful future.
Ruth A. Knippel, 82, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Claremont, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City, Iowa.
A service honoring Ruth’s life was held May 18 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.
The Triton FFA livestock team competed at the Minnesota FFA State Convention on April 27, 2015. The livestock team consists of Brianna Fitzgerald, Courtney Dohrmann, Cameron Marquardt, Mary Moenning and Jordana Foote served as an alternate. The team judged seven different classes consisting of beef cattle, sheep, hogs and goats. Brianna, Courtney, Mary and Cameron also competed in a team activity.
Loren Dale Rasmussen, age 79 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at his home.
He was born at home in Blooming Prairie on Oct. 12, 1935, the son of Louis and Amanda (Miller) Rasmussen.

With construction season in full swing in Owatonna, motorists can expect some more delays in their commute.
Construction on the $3.2 million project is slated to begin Monday, May 18 on Old Highway 14 also known as County Road 2 and Hoffman Drive. Work will begin at the western Owatonna city limits and continue to the intersection of Steele County Road 45 and State Avenue.
Olympic champion Bruce Jenner’s gender identity has been in the national spotlight since he announced on “20/20” last month, “For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman.”
Jenner said that as a child he’d dress up in female family members’ clothing, then carefully place the clothing back in the dressers or closets where he’d found it to ensure he wasn’t caught.
