Triton FFA team takes third at State

The Triton FFA livestock team competed at the Minnesota FFA State Convention on April 27, 2015. The livestock team consists of Brianna Fitzgerald, Courtney Dohrmann, Cameron Marquardt, Mary Moenning and Jordana Foote served as an alternate. The team judged seven different classes consisting of beef cattle, sheep, hogs and goats. Brianna, Courtney, Mary and Cameron also competed in a team activity. Each member had to prepare two sets of oral reasons and give them to a judge. The event was held in the coliseum on the Minnesota State Fair Grounds.
The team placed third out of over 50 teams in the state. The team hoped to place in the top three and they meet their goal. Individually each of the team members did well. Mary placed 2/225, Courtney placed 22/225, Brianna placed 39/225 and Cameron placed 44/225. Brianna said she has never felt so accomplished after an FFA event and is beyond blessed she got to judge with this group. Brianna plans to judge livestock again next year for her senior year. Brianna also says she personally would like to work on her oral reasoning so that she can become more confident in herself and show that she does care about oral reasons and how she does on them. Brianna personally feels that as a team there should be more team practices where they would judge live animals and give reasons to each other.
Personally, Brianna thinks that “as a team we have grown together and become much closer.” Brianna said she is very thankful that she has got to judge livestock over the past year with Courtney, Mary, Jordana and Cameron. Brianna is sad the next year is her senior year and the last year that she will be able to judge general livestock for Triton FFA. If Brianna could give any advice to anyone that is interested in being a part of general livestock, she says “To give it your all and have fun.”
