Think Pink Women’s Expo aims to create awareness

The American Legion in Dodge Center was packed last Saturday for the first Think Pink Women’s Expo as people came not only to peruse various vendors, but also to support a cause, fighting cancer.
The event was put on by the Fishin’ to Fight Cancer Dodge County Relay team along with some friends and family of team members. The event raised over $33,000, all of which will go toward the 2016 Dodge County Relay.

Cardinals end Cobras’ season for second straight year

The Triton football team was rolling after a 75-6 victory over St. Charles in the opening round of the section 1AA tournament last week. With the Cobras showing how good they could be, they were going to be a tough draw for a Lewiston-Altura team that had ended their season a year ago.

Time for lutefisk in Kasson

They started to arrive at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson well before 11 a.m. last Thursday. Yes, the bake sale opened at 9 a.m. but that was not really why they came. The real prize was the lutefisk dinner, that Minnesota tradition that turns up every fall, usually at Lutheran churches with a Norwegian heritage.

New print schedule begins for DCI

Beginning with next week’s edition of the Dodge County Independent, the newspaper will have a new print schedule.

The Kasson-Mantorville/Triton cross country team continued their successful season as seven runners earned All-Conference honors at the HVL meet in Zumbrota on Oct. 20.  With five boys and two girls making the list, it represents the highest total during head coach Jared Pittman’s tenure with the team.

Lost in a maze of corn and emotions

One of my favorite things to do in life is enjoy family activities with my children.
That has become a challenge over the last few years with two going off to college and another stuck at home with mom and dad. I’ve had a hard time adjusting to having only one child at home, but I’m trying to make the most out of it.
