Seven KoMets earn All-Conference honors
The Kasson-Mantorville/Triton cross country team continued their successful season as seven runners earned All-Conference honors at the HVL meet in Zumbrota on Oct. 20. With five boys and two girls making the list, it represents the highest total during head coach Jared Pittman’s tenure with the team.
For the boys, Brennan Gustafson lead the way after placing third (17:11.5) one week after winning the K-M invitational. He was followed up by Ben Colvin (17:39.3, sixth), Mason Iverson (17:53.9, ninth), Charlie Miller (18:15.0, 16th), and Harrison Heppelmann (18:23.9, 17th). With a solid effort from the entire team, the KoMets were able to finish second in the HVL behind perennial powerhouse Lake City.
The boys also got strong performances from Benjamin Trihey (18:38.7, 22nd) and Tyler Evenson (18:59.9, 25th).
“Five All-Conference runners for the boys is great,” Pittman said of the boys team. “It shows that our kids are working hard. Our team strength and continued improvement are showing that our kids are making that commitment to running.”
The girls also saw some success despite finishing eighth as a team with Courtney West and Tiana Wiebke being All-Conference selections. West added another top-five finish to her resume after placing fourth (20:27.8) and Wiebke clocked in at tenth (20:27.8).
With West being a sophomore and Wiebke a seventh-grader, Pittman thinks that these two will have a bright future going forward for the program.
