Just as you sit down to gobble some turkey this week, I encourage you to boycott some of America’s biggest retailers, including Minnesota-based Target. I share this letter with you as visions of turkey dance in your heads.  
An open letter to Minnesota’s Target Corp:
It is with utter dismay that Minnesota’s own Target Corporation plans to continue succumbing to what’s become known as the Black Friday creep. 

Families gathering for a Thanksgiving Day feast often are thankful for their loved ones and the many memories to come. That dynamic is different this year for Dena Houston’s family, however, as they know their time with her is limited.
Dena, 48, of Kasson, is known around town as the “mascot” of Erdman’s County Market, the president of the local TOPSMN organization and a dedicated member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. 

Debonie Guenther was caught off guard last week as she accepted the highest honor given out to any law enforcement officer in the county on behalf of her late husband who died in the line of duty in 2013.“It’s an honor to get the medal, but it makes me miss him so much more,” Guenther said choking back tears.

The Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team may have had a disappointing end to the season with a loss to Stewartville, but that didn’t stop the team from racking up accolades.

The Dodge County Wildcats girls hockey team kept their momentum going from a strong opening week as they were able to pick up victories against Holy Family/Waconia and Bloomington Jefferson to improve their overall record to 4-1.

The Triton boys basketball team is looking to establish some momentum early in the year and there are few better ways of doing that than throwing your own invitational tournament.
With the Cobras picking up a pair of victories in a tournament that included Blooming Prairie, Kenyon-Wanamingo and Schaeffer Academy, it could be a step in the right direction for a young team trying to find their way.

West Concord residents will get a chance to tell the West Concord City Council what they would do with the old hardware store building on Main Street.
The city bought the building last summer, a year after the hardware store closed.
The city has listed the building for sale but has also indicated it would be open to other options. The building was on the market for a year after the hardware store closed.

Triton High School Senior Charles Groll will be leading the Minnesota Business Professionals of America group for the next year.
He was elected president of the group at the fall BPA Leadership Conference.
