Kasson-Mantorville food drive is a huge success

The Kasson-Mantorville School District has done it once again. For the fifth time in a row, K-M has collected the most pounds of food in the large schools division for the sixth annual Channel One Regional Food Bank Student Food Drive. 
This year each of the K-M schools met their building goals of 2,000 pounds, however the district-wide goal of 10,000 pounds was not met. FCCLA advisor Michele Lindquist was very pleased with the school’s participation. 
“I think it went really well. It worked really well because it was a collaborative effort between the schools. With everyone working together we were able to make it work,” she said. Lindquist added that this year’s drive collected around 1,000 pounds more than last year’s and had higher student participation. 
This year between all three schools, 7,802 pounds of food were collected, including monetary donations. K-M and Triton High School also received the Social Media award for creating a video to tell students and the community about the food drive. 
“We are genuinely proud of the community service being provided by our young adults for the needy families in the area.  This is especially timely as we enter the Thanksgiving and Christmas season,” said Superintendent Mark Matuska.
