Marigold Days committee members have so many favorite events, it's hard to choose just one. " I always look forward to the antique and flea market," Paul Larsen, Mantorville's Chamber of Commerce secretary. "The owner show is always nice- and that's kind of what started it all. And of course, the music is always great."

Jim Finn was inspired upon visiting big truck shows in the mid-1990s.
The Mantorville man started up the Big Iron Classic truck show, for semi-trucks and trailers, in 2000.
It has grown.
Finn estimates that, depending on the weather, around 20,000 people will visit this year’s 18th-annual Big Iron Classic Truck Show and Charity Drive, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9 at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Kasson.

It was a bad accident. A car pulled in front of a school bus, which hit the van, entered a ditch, and rolled onto its side.
Both vehicles were full of people. There were 30 or 40 victims; several were killed.
Squads of law enforcement and emergency personnel from around the area responded quickly to the site.

I don’t like public speaking.
Not many people do. Once you find someone who does, it’s like a diamond in the rough. They are so rare, so special.
Generally, people who enjoy speaking, and speaking to a crowd are the people you see up on stage. People who seem to shine just a little bit brighter then the rest of us.
At least in my opinion, those people are special.

It’s hard to believe, but my summer internship with the DCI has come to an end.
My time here has been a BIG learning experience.

A year ago, Kasson- Mantorville boys soccer coach Leo Barbosa took over for Dave Bahr. While he had the experience of coaching with the junior varsity team in his previous season with the KoMets, there still was a bit of a learning curve which all coaches go through when stepping up to the varsity level.

Kasson-Mantorville junior Peyton Suess has been a force since stepping on the court for the volleyball team as an eighth grader. With her size and athleticism creating mismatches for opponents, Suess has become not only one of the top players in the state of Minnesota, but one of the elite prospects in the country.
