Roger Hanson was born April 25, 1918 on a farm near the Oslo area and his parents were Albert and Gena Hanson. 
She was the lutefisk queen preparing the fish for 38 years for the annual lutefisk supper at St John’s Lutheran Church and also helped train in “new” volunteers like Mary Hegna and Mike Berge. His mother lived to age 95 1/2 while his dad passed at age 77 and his brother Levern lived to age 92.

Vernon Bau was born on a farm near Monango, N.D. on June 5, 1927 to Peter and Esther (Farmer) Bau.

One of our regular readers from Owatonna pointed out to me an article that ran in the March-April edition of RFD-TV Magazine about the local paper. It’s appropriately titled, “My Local Paper.”

Janice Marion Hackenmiller, age 81, of Stacyville, IA, died Sunday, April 19, 2020 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.
Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will hold a public celebration of her life at a later date. A private graveside service was held at the Visitation Catholic Church Cemetery with Father Raymond Burkle officiating.

Last Friday morning I was picking the clothes to wear for the day. Usually, it’s a pair of slacks, shirt and a sweater. Boring!

Kasson Eye Care has set a special goal for 2020 – 2,020 cans of food for the Kasson Food Shelf in 2020.
Dr. Christine Leska explained that 2020 is special year for an optometry practice because 20/20 vision is perfect. And to celebrate, she said, her office decided to donate 2,020 cans of food to the Food Shelf this year.

What started out to be a family Easter project for a retired Hayfield couple has turned into being something of a hit on social media as it soothes the soul in times of despair.
