Olde Fashioned Christmas in Mantorville isn’t until December 7, however, the Mantorville Chamber of Commerce is offering you a chance to reserve your 2024 limited edition cookie tin this Saturday to make sure you will have one come December.
The cookie tin is used to collect a variety of holiday cookies at many participating businesses or some folks purchase them as keepsakes. The tins cost $20.

Occasionally, my wife and I will go for a ride. That immediately defines our stage in life. Most people, when they get in a vehicle, have a definite destination in mind. But at a certain age, you decide you want to get out of the house but don’t have any particular place in mind to go.

Last week the DCI began running a weekly feature called Decision 2024. Candidates for Kasson-Mantorville school board were all asked the same question and their responses printed. A question was also asked of candidates for state representative. This week’s DCI asks a question of the candidates for the Byron school board as well as state representative.

It is now officially fall and we are starting to see a variety of fall events.
This week Homecoming activities are under way at both Byron and Hayfield High Schools and Saturday will see Oktoberfest celebrations sponsored by both the Kasson Public Library and the Kasson Chamber of Commerce.

It appears that the US economy is pretty solid compared to other countries.

Kasson-Mantorville’s Lions Club will have a “scrap metal” drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lions Park in Kasson on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The club will be accepting any metal items including stoves, washing machines, dryers, lawn mowers, cans, tillers, pipes, vehicle batters and similar items. Refrigerators, freezers and electronics or freon-sealed units will not be accepted.

Since its very beginning, the Christian Church has taught that a procured abortion is an act that contradicts the will of God. It cannot be justified because it clearly violates the Law of God, the moral law of the One who created the first human beings in His own image and ordered them to, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth… (Genesis 1:27—28, ESV).”

Kasson residents will get a chance to kick off the fall season this Saturday as both the Kasson Public Library and the Chamber of Commerce have Oktoberfest events scheduled.
Events start at 9 a.m. when the Kasson Public Library continues its 125th anniversary celebration.
