Oktoberfest comes to Kasson this Saturday

Kasson residents will get a chance to kick off the fall season this Saturday as both the Kasson Public Library and the Chamber of Commerce have Oktoberfest events scheduled.
Events start at 9 a.m. when the Kasson Public Library continues its 125th anniversary celebration.
The library will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., said Library Director David Greenfield. Events include children’s crafts in the Community Room, the KM Lions Club selling bratwurst from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Lost Faculties performing from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
There will be a tent with picnic tables set up but those attending are encouraged to bring their own chairs/blankets for seating, Greenfield said.
Following the library events, focus moves downtown for the Kasson Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest.
The first event of the afternoon is the 2nd Annual Wurst Dog Derby (aka Weiner Dog Race) which gets under way at 1 p.m. at the Zumbro Valley Golf Course.
Downtown activities include a llama obstacle course, crafts, tire flipping, parachuting hot dogs, potato sack races, a vendor market, Rookie the Clown and his balloon animals, food, a brass band, face painting, bingo, and more.
There will be a fun run at 4 p.m. and a sauerkraut eating contest at 5 p.m.
There will also be a Pub Crawl all day for the adults. Get a punch card at one of the participating restaurants and have each place mark off their restaurant on the card. Turn in the punch card at the last place you visit to be entered in a drawing to win Chamber Bucks to one of the five restaurants.
Participating restaurants are Bunker Bar @ZVGC, Hidden Pines, Hubbell House, Tammy’s Place, the Kasson Legion, and Saker’s.
